Mexico – Miguel Pineda – Enamel

Miguel Pineda – Mexican Enamelist and Silversmith Miguel Pineda was born in Mexico City in 1940. He studied enameling with Maggie Howe from 1958 – 1960, going on to experiment and create using numerous difficult techniques on his pieces. As noted in the Glass on Metal February 1991 magazine article about him, “He is also the creator of the panels decorating the 36 doors of the famous Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico City”.>

This piece weights 850 gram and measures 23,5 x 21 cm. It appears there was a note or sticker at the back side. Unfortunately this was removed and I have been unable to trace it back.
